Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t understand the new sign in system.

In the past, Swift Alert has not had a sign in system. You actually never logged in to Swift Alert before, you only entered your email in case you won a prize and we needed to contact you. All user accounts previously were anonymous, which meant if you got a new phone or deleted your app there was no way to preserve your data. By creating a user account with Google/Apple/Email, you are overriding the previous anonymous account and replacing it with a new login that you can use to ensure your data remains accessible in the future.

What if I used a random spam email to log in to Swift Alert before and not my Google/Apple email?

It doesn’t matter! As noted above, you never previously had a user account. By creating one now, you are linking a user account to the previously anonymous data that existed only on your device.

I got a new phone and lost all of my data. What can I do?

If you got a new phone or deleted your app before we created a user login system, we can often restore your overall Mastermind stats (this does not include individual game forms for Mastermind). Please complete this form for instructions and assistance. Please note that this process will take time as we restore each set of stats manually.

My phone says I can't use Apple/Google to create a sign in. What can I do?

Some users have experienced issues with parental controls or country regulations that prohibit logging in with Apple and Google. We have now added an email/password option to get around that problem. As noted above, it doesn't make a difference what email you entered previously.

Why did you have to make this change?

The change was necessary because we know that storing your data on your device was not a good long-term solution. Eventually, everyone gets a new phone or deletes the app and their data is lost. We want to avoid that reality for as many of you as possible by allowing you to log in on a new device.

Why didn’t you make this change sooner?

We simply didn’t have the bandwidth to go through a change this significant during the tour. We wish we had implemented it from the very beginning of the app, but simply did not have the foresight to know how big the app would become or how much people would value their Mastermind data (and we’re glad you do!).
